“What about—”

“Kate,” he stopped me.

“Just give me more time.” I was the one begging now.

“I want to. I wish I was fine with waiting forever, but I’m not.” Kylan winced.

His hands reached up to my shoulders, tracing the line of clothing on the collar of my shirt. His body burned a trail of fire against my skin. My heart raced to keep up with the fast breaths I now needed.

“I want to touch you,” Kylan whispered. “Without any barriers.”

His hands moved to my hair, pulling it back and off of my shoulders. They moved back to my shoulders and down my arms. My entire body ignited. One waft of air and I might have blown away.

“I want all of you. And every second I spend knowing that I can’t be with you is pure torture,”Kylan groaned as his hands latched onto my waist.

He pulled me forward, as close as he could before my face touched his. Our bodies pressed together. I didn’t want to blink, I didn’t want to miss a moment of his hungry eyes or his tensed muscles.

“Seeing you today, in the game,” Kylan whispered in a low voice. “You were so strong and completely in your element. It felt like I was meeting Mara for the first time. And she was incredible.”

“Really?” I choked on the word.

Kylan had fallen for Kate, the persona I created to blend in and make people care about me. It worked, and he fell hard. But ever since he had seen the other part of my life, he hadn’t left and I couldn’t see why.

“Really.” Kylan smiled, letting out a breath. “The more of you I see, the more I love.”

I wanted to jump into his arms. Desire scorched through my veins. A lump formed in my throat from all the bottled-up emotions.

“Is this killing you as much as it’s killing me?” Kylan asked in a desperate, soft voice that crushed my heart in one breath.

I couldn’t speak. I only nodded.
